As promised in the subtitle, this blog is going to be about more than just economics and my PhD research. Mountaineering is a major hobby of mine, and one that I plan on pursuing with gusto while here in Scotland. But in order to go climbing and hiking one has to be fit and strong...and alas I am best described as soft (essentially the opposite of fit and strong). To remedy this situation I have started a fitness program consisting of running, lifting weights, and hiking as much as possible...today was day 1 of my program: I ran 2 miles (in the rain). That may not sound like much (and it isn't)...but one has to start somewhere...

Now off to watch more linear algebra lectures (16, 17, and 18 I think), shower, and then start my PhD lit review...
